Why Siyam World is the Maldives' Ultimate Summer Playground
Think summer in the Maldives is all about sipping cocktails and doing absolutely nothing? You could. But at Siyam World, you could also swim with sharks, race electric go-karts, become a certified mermaid, train with football legends and explore one of the Maldives' newest shipwrecks — all before deciding what's for dinner.

The Maldives, Reimagined
Let's be honest: when most people picture the Maldives, they imagine silence. An overwater bungalow. A hammock. A book that never gets read because you keep falling asleep to the sound of waves.
Paradise, sure. But for some of us, paradise needs a little more life.
Enter Siyam World. Set across a sprawling 54-hectare natural island in Noonu Atoll, this five-star resort has torn up the traditional Maldivian script. With 472 villas across 16 categories, 18 restaurants and bars, and the largest floating water park in the Maldives, it somehow manages to be both the country's biggest resort and a place that never feels crowded.
This is the Maldives turned up. And summer 2026 is the perfect time to experience it.
🏊 The Maldives' Biggest Floating Water Park
Let's start with the showstopper.
Siyam Water World isn't just *a* water park — it's the Maldives' biggest floating water park. We're talking slippery slides, parkours, obstacles, water trampolines, climbing walls, and rafts. It's a sprawling aquatic playground set against the stunning turquoise backdrop of the Indian Ocean.
And here's the best part: it's complimentary.
Kids (and let's be real, adults too) can spend hours bouncing, sliding, and climbing to their heart's content. As one guest put it: "My kids play in the water park every day until they don't want to go back to the room, and this 'old mother' can finally relax with a cocktail!"

A Thrill-Seeker’s Guide to Siyam Water World🤿 From Shipwreck to Living Reef: Diving into History
Just when you thought the water couldn't get any more exciting, Siyam World launched one of the Maldives' most ambitious underwater projects.
The Wreck to Reef initiative has transformed a former Maldivian tuna freighter into a dynamic new wreck dive site. The 66.36-metre, 499-tonne vessel, once responsible for transporting tuna across the atolls, now rests beneath the waters of Noonu Atoll.
The story behind it is almost too good to be true. In October 2024, the ship was purposefully sunk. But during the process, trapped air caused it to settle upside down on the seabed. Undeterred, a skilled local team spent weeks using giant air bags and ropes to carefully rotate the wreck upright. Mission accomplished.
Today, the bow points dramatically towards the reef at 10 metres while the stern descends to 24 metres. And marine life has wasted no time claiming its new address. Already recorded around the wreck are:
-
Guitar sharks, blacktip reef sharks, nurse sharks, lemon sharks, grey reef sharks
-
Napoleon wrasse, eagle rays, stingrays, turtles
-
Moray eels, octopus, groupers, snappers, boxfish, batfish, angelfish
-
Large schools of jackfish
Soft and hard corals have already begun colonising the steel structure, signalling the start of its transformation into a thriving underwater ecosystem.
The inaugural Wreck to Reef event took place from June 11 to 15, 2026, bringing together divers, marine conservationists, scientists, and ocean advocates. But the wreck itself is open year-round for certified divers — and it's an experience you simply won't find anywhere else in the Maldives.

Wreck to Reef initiative at Siyam World🏇 First-of-Their-Kind Experiences
Siyam World isn't content with just being another luxury resort. It's on a mission to offer experiences you literally cannot have anywhere else in the Maldives.
The Only Horse Ranch in the Maldives
Yes, you read that right. Siyam World is home to the Maldives' only Horse Ranch. Guests can saddle up and enjoy horseback riding along pristine white-sand beaches — something that feels almost surreal in a tropical island setting. Whether you're an experienced rider or a complete beginner, guided rides and animal care sessions are available for all ages.
The Maldives' First Electric Go-Kart Track
For speed enthusiasts, there's an electric go-kart track — another Maldivian first. Buckle up, hold on tight, and experience the thrill of racing on a full asphalt track just steps from the Indian Ocean. It's the kind of unexpected adventure that makes Siyam World feel less like a vacation and more like being on recess.
Football Camps with Legends
Young sports enthusiasts (and their parents) can train with the best. Siyam World hosts seasonal football camps led by international legends. Premier League icons have been known to make appearances — guests have mentioned training with ex-pros like Javier Saviola and Gary Cahill — making this a once-in-a-lifetime experience for football-mad kids (and adults).
Mini Mokes: Not a Gimmick
To explore the sprawling island, guests can rent a Mini Moke — a small, open-air electric vehicle. Siyam World was the first resort in the Maldives to offer them, and they fit the tone of the place perfectly: a luxury island that gives you permission to play.
🍽️ Dining That Surprised Everyone
Siyam World is better known for its parties and water park than its food — which made dining one of the most pleasant surprises of the trip.
The WOW! 24-hour premium all-inclusive plan gives you unlimited access to a "dine-around-the-world" culinary journey. With over a dozen restaurants and bars, you'll never eat the same meal twice.
Standout Restaurants:

-
Delmare (Italian) — Mediterranean flavours in a romantic setting

And yes — breakfast includes champagne. Because why not?

🐠 Snorkelling & Marine Life
You don't need to be a certified diver to experience Siyam World's underwater wonders.
Snorkelling right off the Takrai jetty is consistently rated as one of the best experiences on the island. Guests regularly spot blacktip reef sharks, nurse sharks, stingrays, turtles, and countless species of fish. The water is so clear it feels almost fake.
Complimentary snorkelling safaris take guests to nearby reefs where colourful corals and marine life abound. And if you're lucky enough to stay in an overwater villa, you can spot marine life right from your deck — guests have reported seeing sharks, rays, and turtles just steps from their villa.
👨👩👧👦 Family Paradise
For families, Siyam World is genuinely hard to beat.
The Kids Club receives rave reviews, with fantastic facilities, activities, and staff who go above and beyond. Arts and crafts, supervised activities, and a safe environment mean parents can actually relax while the kids are entertained.
The sheer variety of activities means there's something for every age:
-
The floating water park (included)
-
Paddleboarding, kayaking, and canoeing (complimentary)
-
Tennis, padel, badminton, beach volleyball
-
A full-sized football pitch
-
Bowling alley (for a fee)
-
Bike rentals ($15 per day)
-
The farm with goats, horses, parrots, and chickens
And with children under 12 staying free as part of the summer offer, it's one of the best-value family holidays in the Maldives.
🌅 The Vibe: Energetic, But Never Overwhelming
What makes Siyam World truly special is its energy.
There's always something happening — from laid-back beach days to lively evening entertainment with DJs, live saxophone performances, themed parties, fire shows, and cabaret. Yet the resort's sheer size means you can always find your own quiet corner when you need it.
Mint Bar (adults only) offers sunset vibes with live music and an infinity pool — the perfect spot for a cocktail as the sky turns pink and orange. Jungali has a huge pool with a swim-up bar and daily activities like water aerobics and water polo. Shipwrecked offers pizza and fresh pasta right on the beach.
The island's electric shuttle buses run 24/7, with real-time tracking at every stop. You'll never wait more than a few minutes for a ride.
