Shaviyani atoll is one of the northern island groups of the Maldives lying about 270 km north of Male airport. Geographically, Shaviyani is part of the Thiladhunmathee-Miladhunmadulu great atoll, the world's largest structure of natural coral atolls encompassing more than 1,400 square miles. The seaplane transfer takes 55 mins with an alternate route possible via domestic flight to Hanimaadhoo airport. At the end of 2018 in Shaviyani atoll will open a new domestic airport on Funadhoo island.
The least developed of all atolls in the Maldives, Shaviyani is your exquisite personal hideaway. The destination is in many ways a new frontier, an ancient sheltering point known only to wise seafarers who enjoyed the fair and tranquil waters courtesy of fine lagoons that surround the paradise islands.
It is still too early to expect chic and stylish resorts, ideal for those who want to get away from it all. Desert Shaviana is a great place for adventure seekers with endless views of the Indian Ocean.
JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa will be opening on Vagaru island, Shaviyani Atoll, in January 2019. The 61-villa property will be headed up by renowned general manager Marc Gussing and will bring fierce competition to the Maldives with highlights including a private pool with every villa, a treetop restaurant, an and expansive wine cellar.
