Joy island is small but beautiful. It's a joy to walk on the white sandy beaches and lanes and enjoy sitting on the personal loungers provided with each beach villa and just watch the waves on the indian ocean and enjoy the sea breeze. The lagoon is really wonderful with a light blue water, the lagoon bottom at sunset side has soft sand, almost no need to use aquashoes.

On the sunrise side, the island is protected from waves by barrier reef, and concrete walls that do not spoil the views at all. The best snorkeling spots can be found around the end of the water villas pier. If you are a good swimmer, snorkeling in the channel near the western tip of the island will give you an incredible experience.

The five-star resort's contemporary design reflects the colours of nature harmonised with authentic Maldivian influences. The main pool is fabulous, large and slowly deeps so it's great for swimmers and non-swimmers alike to enjoy the shallower end. The pool area is kept clean and tiny and loungers clean and covered. The pool area offers a plenty of comfy beds. The daily aqua aerobics is good fun.

If music of surf won't disturb your sleep Beach Villa with Sunrise View is good chioce. The beach here is rather long and nice, the bottom of this part of the lagoon has soft white sand. Sunrise Family Beach villas have a shorter beach line and somewhere sharp stones at the bottom of the lagoon which you need to come over in order to reach white soft sand.

Sunset Beach Suites with Pool are the best accommodation choice at Joy island. The lagoon here is extremely nice, the bottom has white soft sand. Sometimes there are a little bit of fossilized corals but you can easily pass them round.Sunset beach is home to Watersports.

The dining options at Joy Island Maldives are fantastic, with a variety of delicious cuisines to choose from, every meal is a culinary journey. After the first day experiencing breakfast, lunch, dinner you'll experience the most amazing food, drinks and service that it's impeccable! Dining in the main restaurant ‘The Market’ showcases world flavours with its different daily street food themes while the most loved Italian dishes are served in il Basilico. Desserts are a highlight, particularly the assortment of tarts, cakes, and croissants, while Palm Beach's tea snacks and a paella served on the beach sustaines guests until dinner. Cocktails are served in the colourful ambience of Rainbow and tasty tapas and paella tempt guests at the Chiringuito on the tip of the island.

There is so many different foods to try everyday, catered for everyone. There is something for everyone at every meal. The Market's buffet is well varied with a wonderful selection of salads, cold cuts, cheeses, vinaigrettes, fresh vegetable fruit, grilled meat, roasted chicken, lamb, sausages and seafood. There are soups, 30 types of bread, curries and the desserts tuck away in a beautiful room called 'Room of Sin'. Pastas, and wood-fired oven-baked pizzas served at the il Basilico are really excellent, much better than you can find in Italy visiting a random restaurant. All dishes are fabulous and prepared with the freshest ingredients. The wine choices at dinner all great too.

There is also a little foodie van that served more of the child friendly options such as burgers, paninis and hot dogs, and of course the full English breakfast! During celebration events the beach beautifully transforms for romantic private meals, and some great photo opportunities!

There is a great selection of wine, and premium brand spirits, beer and cocktails. Whilst it's an all-inclusive resort the choice of drinks at the bar is very good, even with AIl-inclusive option you get an impressive list. The waiters at Rainbow bar and Palm Beach are super professional: very quick service, noticing when your drink is finished and proposing to repeat it.

The all-inclusive package is not as generous as at other Maldives all-inclusive resorts the most of guest find find additional charges steep. However, from its stunning location to its world-class amenities and outstanding service, Joy Island will exceede all of your expectations and provided me with memories that will last a lifetime. • Children of any age are welcome. Cots and extra beds are free
• Joy is an artificial island and has not yet bristled with vegetation. Since it's a young island no much trees with shade
• Though no big reef near the beach, but still there are nice corals and fish to watch nearby.
• Buffet gets busy at peak times
• From 22:00 to midnight the entertainment really goes up a level, and so (room location dependent) it may be noisy if wanting an earlier night.
• The main pool is closing already at 6pm
• The onsite photographer is excelent, we recommend choosing around the sunset time
• Paddleboarding and kayaking - fun for a day, it can get repetitive since it is limited to a small area
