The Maldives relaxes ‘Split Stay’ tourism rule, allows multi-resort holidays
All What You Need To Know if You are Planning on Travelling to The Maldives during the Coronavirus pandemic
1 September, 2020
To encourage and allow tourists to experience more than one resort and to enable longer stays, tourism authorities in the Maldives have allowed visitors to stay in more than one resort, in a bid to attract more travellers to the tourism-dependent Indian Ocean tourist paradise.
The island nation’s tourism ministry said Monday that tourists will be allowed to “split” their stay between different resorts on the condition that each of the resorts meet specific health and safety guidelines approved by the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
'Split Stay' has been introduced for tourists who wish to experience their holiday in more than one resort. Ministry of Tourism in constitution with the Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced split stays to encourage and allow tourists to experience more than one resort. Additionally, this would enable guests to have longer stays in the Maldives during their holidays.
Tourists travelling to the Maldives will be provided a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival. A confirmed booking in a tourist establishment registered with the Ministry of Tourism, prior to travelling to Maldives is mandatory.
Tourists arriving in Maldives are not subjected to any quarantine measures upon arrival and are required to submit any medical test results for entry to the country.
However, travellers presenting with symptoms of COVID-19 upon arrival will be subjected to a PCR test at the traveler’s cost. Additionally, local health authorities may conduct random testing, at no cost to travelers.
A health declaration card will be required as part of the on-arrival procedure.
