Barceló makes Its landmark debut in the Madives with opening Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives

Barceló Hotel Group has announced the opening Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives, signaling the debut of the iconic luxury brand in Maldives. Set to open in 15th August 2023, the highly anticipated 5-star resort will be located in in South Ari Atoll, and will bring modern luxury and elegant service to the Maldives.

With turquoise waters, white sand, and coral gardens, Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives is a romantic escape for couples, fun and adventurous for families. The resort is close proximity to the South Ari Marine Protected Area (SAMPA), an iconic location for its abundance of whale sharks, where they are observed all year round., making it a convenient base to explore.

Guests can enjoy a wide variety of water sports, including whale shark and manta ray watching, while staying in one of the 100 villas offered by the resort. The 63 Beach Villas, 30 Water Villas, and 7 Beach Suites with plunge pools are well-equipped, providing guests with maximum seclusion and serenity.

The private island of Bodufinolhu is a home to three international restaurants, and three bars, offering authentic culinary experiences for guests. The main restaurant, Sea Salt serves all meals buffet-style with an open kitchen, Whilst at Aqua, guests can savour Mediterranean fusion with locally caught fresh fish and seafood. For those looking to relax with an aperitif or a cocktail, the resort has a main Pool Bar with a sunset view, Breeze and a Beach Club with a lagoon pool bar, Magical.

The resort boasts two large infinity pools, one with unobstructed views of the Maldivian sunsets, and the other offering panoramic views of the lagoon. Guests can enjoy activities such as sunrise yoga and pilates in a peaceful and serene environment.
