18 June, 2023
Booking.com and Melissa McCarthy, the global travel leader’s latest ambassador and #1 travel fan, are excited to share the award-winning actress’s favorite travel destinations and Booking.com’s recommendations for more sustainable places to stay when visiting. Each property comes equipped with Booking.com’s Travel Sustainable badge – a user-friendly icon that denotes which properties have implemented sustainability practices, from eliminating single-use plastics and installing LED lighting, to supporting local vendors, practicing water conservation methods and more.
Booking.com’s 2023 Sustainable Travel Report revealed that 76% of travelers want to travel more sustainably this year with almost two thirds (66%) saying they want to leave the places they visit better than when they arrived and 75% seeking authentic experiences that are representative of the local culture, showcasing traveler’s intent to support destinations and the community.
“Booking.com prioritizes global issues in a way that makes travel easier for everyone and believes in the positive impact of travel, a sentiment I also believe with my whole heart,” says Melissa McCarthy. “Booking.com’s Travel Sustainable badge shows what properties have implemented sustainable practices, making it easier to make informed decisions about where you’re staying and how your chosen accommodation is making a difference. My favorite travel destinations have given me so many wonderful memories, especially the time spent with family and friends immersing ourselves in the local culture, so I am a huge advocate for ensuring we preserve these special destinations (and all destinations) so that we continue to have a world worth exploring.”
Below, please find Melissa’s favorite travel destinations with property recommendations from Booking.com, all of which feature the Travel Sustainable badge to help contribute to a more sustainable getaway.
