Affairs of the hearts

Valentine’s Day however in maldives

The month of romance is almost here and as always it arrives with a line-up of sweet specials and treats. Here in the tropics we always embody an inherently romantic feel; with warm white sandy beaches, crystal azure seas, intimate candlelit dinners – just the kind of perfect we could live on forever. To celebrate Valentine’s Day however, take the romance to another level with COCO' special events.

Take a walk along the beach at sunrise and start off your day at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu with a decadent Champagne breakfast on your own private spot on the beach. After breakfast, set sail to start off your love story on a private island and relish in a barbecue picnic with your better half.

In the evening, take in the magnificent sunset at the Romantic Cocktail Party and elevate your date night while sipping Champagne, and nibbling delectable canapés, followed by an intimate Valentine’s Special Dinner with Live Music.

Over at Coco Bodu Hithi, indulge in a sumptuous floating breakfast in the privacy of your in-villa pool or enjoy an exquisite champagne dinner under the stars with your toes in the sand.

With an abundance of experiences to cherish together, Coco Collection truly honours the season of love. Join the island resorts to embrace remarkable moments with your loved one.

Best place to stay at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu

Dr. Audrey Tang in maldives

Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu is simply known for its tropical magic. From opening out to a stunning view of the ocean to meeting the artisan skills of its residents, the lush green island not only preserves its surrounding ecosystem but also revives the lost traditions of the Maldives.

While the island has been a sublime destination for over 25 years, we are here to share with you one of the latest new additions to the resort – the Deluxe Pool Villas. Our 10 Deluxe Pool Villas are dotted along the beaches of Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu and holds within them the charm of Maldivian architecture. As you enter the villa you are greeted by a soulful retreat which provides rustic island living with a dreamy king-sized bed complete with net canopy, cosy sofa, and a quiet sitting area with a table and chair. You will be enthralled as soon as you venture further into the villa, as one of its most striking and prominent features is its spacious garden bathroom with sunken bath.

Of course, the highlight of the villa is outdoors - envelop yourself in the azure hues of the sky above and the gentle breeze of the sea nearby as you take a dip in the 104 ft² freshwater pool wrapped by the luscious vegetation. Each pool has been custom designed to curve alongside the private beach. After a dip, dry off the baking Maldivian sun on your hammock tied between the swaying palm trees or curl up on your cosy sunbed as you listen to the nearby waves. And don't forget to take your significant other for a walk along the beach just a short distance away through your own private pathway.

Island wanders

marine life in maldives

Visitors to Coco Bodu Hithi quickly get used to its unforgettable experiences, ambiance, food, and its excellent services, but the island is now abuzz with its latest scenery.

As you step into the island, your eyes are immediately drawn to a number of breath-taking features, including the swaying palm trees, the dreamy clear blue water, and the crystal-white beaches that surrounds them.

Going further into the island, discover the iconic and dramatic infinity pool ahead with its glass edges that has undergone a complete makeover. The Infinity Pool at Latitude has always been the ideal spot to unwind and enjoy mesmerising views of the tranquil lagoon. Now with its new contemporary look of dark slate grey tiles that creates shades of the deep blue oceans of the Maldives, the elegance and beauty of the beachside pool has only been enhanced. Indeed, the Latitude Bar is the perfect location for an intimate evening with your loved one, a high tea with the girls, or to simply bask away under the sun.

Coral rehabilitation and conservation with COCO Collection III

Dr. Audrey Tang in maldives

Last year, COCO shared with you a glimpse into the work carried out through our collaboration with the University of Milano-Bicocca as we welcomed 3 of their interns. As we start off the year with more green efforts and partnerships, the team is thrilled to share with you the latest insights since we launched our collaboration.

Meet our brilliant interns, Alice Agrestini and Carola Manzoni, who joined us last September.

Alice is currently enrolled as a student in the MSc Marine Sciences programme. She spent her first three months at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu conducting data collection and moved to Coco Bodu Hithi to complete her fieldwork for her masters thesis project. The data collected at both resort islands was analysed and compared to support her thesis on coral reefs and will be crucial in supporting the coral conservation projects at Coco Collection. Additionally, she was involved in planting several new coral frames sponsored by enthusiastic guests at our coral garden; collecting data for identification projects for manta rays, eagle rays, sea turtles; assisting guests on snorkelling and dolphin watching excursions; and integrating into the weekly evening presentation about marine biodiversity.

Carola is a young Italian marine biologist who joined us as a marine intern to gain solid experience in this field. She has completed her first part of the programme and currently will be remaining at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu until the end of March. During her time at Coco Bodu Hithi, she identified 912 coral fragments of 10 different genera and 33 species, planted 9 new coral frames, joined 68 excursions with guests both by shore and by boat, and identified 22 different sea turtle individuals out of 90 photo IDs taken, with the data being sent to our partners at the Olive Ridley Project.

To top it all, she has been assisting marine educator Lauren in all her duties and has now kick-started a coral ID project at Coco Bodu Hithi, building up a catalogue of all the coral species found at the coral garden. 29 out of the existing 34 coral frames have now been analysed, the number of genera and species identified, the abundance of main species, and the extinction risk category assessed. This information will greatly help the team to identify which species of corals needs more attention as they continue to grow the coral garden.

While she is eager to get to know all the resident sea turtles living around the island, her overall favourite hawksbill sea turtle at Bodu Hithi has been HK5678 or “Mocha,” who she has encountered 13 times at the house reef!

Look out for Coco Collection resorts packages & offers - we hope they get you here sooner and allow you to stay with us longer.
