Wind Over Water: Kitesurfing Journey with Youri Zoon at COMO Cocoa Island

BEGINNERS: Private introductory session – US$130 per hour
Package of three sessions (four hours each) – US$1,296

Youri Zoon has been active since young, whether climbing trees, jumping BMX bikes, skateboarding, sailing or windsurfing – where he first felt the thrill of wind propulsion. At 13, Zoon saw kiteboarders on the beach and felt like it was the perfect combination of all the sports he had done so far. He started kitesurfing that same year and hasn’t looked back since. 

In his first year of kitesurfing, Zoon won the Junior European Championships and the Dutch Nationals. Following this, he set his sights on the World title. After a long road including multiple injuries, Zoon won in 2011 and again in 2012. 

Over the years, many people asked Zoon for tips on how to progress in kitesurfing and Zoon found that he enjoyed coaching very much. After 15 years of competing, Youri decided to focus on teaching which he still does today, remaining active as ever on the water.
