A Night of Celebrations!

02 October 2022, 27 recipients have been conferred the newly launched Maldives Tourism Awards. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih launched the Maldives Tourism Awards at the official ceremony held to mark the first National Tourism Day of Maldives, at Dharubaaruge.

Reethi Beach Resort was awarded for ‘Promoting Local Performers Award’ at this year’s ceremony. We are grateful to all our guests, staff and management for empowering local talents across the Maldives, as part of our Maldivian hospitality.

Home Grown Lettuce Harvest

With the opening of our very own inhouse hydroponic garden as part of our commitment to sourcing our produce locally, we now grow a wide range of organic vegetables on our island for our guests to experience.

Last month we harvested our first batch of home-grown lettuce from our organic garden, which we now serve to our guests in a wide variety of dishes across our dining outlets. Through this initiative we are able to harvest 35 Kilograms of lettuce weekly, reducing our reliance on vendors and contributing to lowering our overall carbon footprint in the resort. The first of many harvests were graced by our General Manager, Denise Schmidt and the management of Reethi Beach Resort.

Think Global, Act Local : Joint CSR Activity on Educating and Uplifting Local Communities

On the 14 September 2022, Reethi Beach Resort along with Maldives Whale Shark Research Program (MWSRP), Ocean Fanatics and SC Capital Partners Pte Ltd visited the Baa Atoll School in Dharavandhoo to conduct an educational trip for local young Maldivians to create both an awareness about marine biodiversity conservation as well as potential job opportunities in the field of marine science.

The event was graced by Denise Schmidt the General Manager at Reethi Beach Resort and Hwang Yu the Executive Director & Head of Sustainability at SC Capital Partners Pte Ltd along with the management and staff of the resort and Ocean Fanatics. The awareness program was conducted by Chloe Winn and Naomi from MWSRP, where they elaborated the need for protection of whale sharks and its immense contribution towards managing our marine ecosystem.

The event also witnessed a book donation by Reethi Beach Resort to the Baa Atoll School library. As part of many CSR activities Reethi Beach is involved in, the donation highlighted the importance of resorts and their impact on uplifting local communities and its inhabitants, in this case the young thriving children on Dharavandhoo.
