TUI scraps Holidays until mid-May and Cruises until June due to Coronavirus

The UK’s biggest travel firm has paused and canceled all hotel stays and vacation packages until May 14. It has put Marella Cruises sailings on hold until June. A new TUI River Cruise product won’t start until November.

The Irish Government is currently advising against all non-essential travel overseas, including to Britain, indefinitely. This includes all cruise ship travel.

TUI said that beach holidays for UK and Irish customers travelling up to and including May 14th would no longer operate, while Marella cruise holidays would be cancelled until May 31st, and a river cruise unit would delay launching until November 26th.

“We are constantly monitoring the situation and will start taking people on holiday again as soon as we are able to do so. At this point in time nobody can accurately predict when that will be,” said a TUI spokesman.

The refund should include your accommodation, or just the flight itself if you only booked plane tickets through TUI.

The tour operator announced last month that they were cutting staff working hours and pay between 30 and 50 per cent to avoid redundancies.

They explained that the new measures are to "ensure cash is preserved, costs are controlled, and the future of our business is protected".

Jet2 recently announced that all flights were cancelled until mid-June, while easyJet have grounded the majority of their fleet indefinitely.
