Cunard’s New Ship, Queen Anne, Is Delayed

The debut of Queen Anne, the fourth ship in Cunard’s fleet, has been pushed back from January 4, 2024 to May 3, 2024.

“Due in part to unforeseen events that have occurred in recent years, the shipbuilding industry, like other industries, has faced numerous challenges including energy shortages and global supply chain constraints. As a result, our new ship Queen Anne will be arriving slightly later than expected,” read a statement provided to Luxury Travel Advisor.

Cunard says it has automatically transferred guests booked or waitlisted on the initial inaugural voyage to the new seven-night inaugural voyage, which will depart from Southampton on May 3, 2024. This sailing will visit La Coruna on May 5, 2024, and Lisbon on May 7, 2024, before returning to Southampton on May 10, 2024.

Queen Anne’s new inaugural season voyages will include sailings from Southampton to the Mediterranean, Scandinavia, the Canary Islands and the Norwegian Fjords. These voyages will be going on sale on December 6, 2022, for Cunard World Club members and on general sale on December 7, 2022.

About the Ship

The new vessel will be Cunard's 249th ship in its history and joins Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth within Cunard's modern fleet. It will be the first time since 1999 that Cunard will operate four ships at sea.

Queen Anne will offer “re-imagined” Cunard signature spaces, plus introduce some new guest experiences for dining, culture and entertainment. The Queens Grill Grand Suites—set to “deliver a new level of exclusivity”—will have a dining room and adjacent butler's pantry, walk-in wardrobes, marble-finished bathrooms with ocean views, a bedroom and the largest balconies onboard. Other options include the Princess Grill Suites, which will have a dressing table and bar area, sculpted ceiling panels and grand saloon carpets, as well as Britannia balcony staterooms—among the majority of cabins—will provide cozy sofa seating areas looking out to sea, as well as bright bathrooms with glass walk-in showers.

Guests can also expect an updated Royal Court Theatre. The two-deck, 825-seat space will offer velvet seating and a variety of entertainment throughout the day and night. Among the 15 restaurants will be the Britannia Restaurant, as well as a “refined” Golden Lion pub. A first in Cunard's fleet, Queen Anne will also exclusively house a new wellness and beauty concept, offering a selection of fitness, beauty, thermal and spa suite facilities.
