Be a kind traveller with COCO Palm Dhuni Kolhu
Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu is proud to partner with Kind Traveler, the first socially conscious Give + Get hotel booking platform that empowers travellers to positively impact the communities they visit. Travellers unlock special rates & perks with curated Kind Hotels upon a $10 donation to a local charity that positively impacts the community visited, or to charity of choice on Kind Traveler. 100 percent of the donation is given to charity creating a triple win amongst the traveller, charity, and hotel.
We have long been collaborating with the Olive Ridley Project to help rescue and rehabilitate injured sea turtles. Sea turtles often suffer devastating injuries from entanglement in marine debris, swallowing fishing hooks, boat strikes, or being kept inappropriately as a pet. Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu is home to the Olive Ridley Project Marine Turtle Rescue Centre, the first veterinarian-led turtle rescue centre in the Maldives to treat these injured creatures. Fully equipped with a laboratory, x-ray and ultrasound machines, an endoscope and surgical facilities, the centre has rehabilitated and released over 107 turtles back into the wild since its opening in 2017.
By offering exclusive rates as a reward for donations, guests can make a conscientious decision to stay at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu and support the Olive Ridley Project.
A $10 donation to the Olive Ridley Project will help fund the charity’s core charitable objectives, which includes expanding their rescue and rehabilitation efforts and furthering the understanding of sea turtle veterinary care.
Nearly 70 percent of travellers polled in Booking’s 2021 Sustainable Travel Study want to know their travel dollars are benefitting the communities they visit.
The partnership between Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, the Olive Ridley Project and Kind Traveler aims to make it easy for travellers to make conscientious, sustainable travel decisions that support the local community.
In terms of the hotel profile, Kind Traveler highlights each property in a meaningful way by connecting the traveller with the local community impact opportunity and ‘Kind Factors’ – the term used to describe how the hotel is advancing individual wellness, sustainability, and community impact. This unique way of telling the hotel’s story reinforces a commitment to social responsibility, at a time when transparency is expected from today’s travellers and consumers.
Some of our notable Kind Factors at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu include an in-house water purification and glass bottling plant to reduce the use of single-use plastic, a Chef’s Garden where they grow their own fruits, herbs, and vegetables, a coral gardening project to replant and revive their coral reefs, and the use of local materials and craftwork such as traditional Maldivian lacquer work. Our island is also a nesting site for green sea turtles, with the onsite Marine Biologist working together with the Olive Ridley Project to protect and record these nests until hatching.
COCO Bodu Hithi welcomes a relaxation officer
The arrival of Dr. Audrey Tang in February has us all giddy with anticipation!
Dr. Tang is a Chartered Psychologist (British Psychological Society), and an award-winning business author with a focus on practical tools for wellbeing. She will be taking up her residency with us at Coco Bodu Hithi as our Relaxation Officer.
Coco Bodu Hithi inhabits the qualities of a relaxing stay with its natural peacefulness combined with an unforgettable spa and yoga experience and a variety of amenities and exclusive services to achieve the utmost zen. “Everyone deserves the opportunity to truly unwind which is why we are glad to introduce Dr Audrey Tang as the resort’s first Relaxation Officer at our resort. Her sole responsibility at Coco Bodu Hithi is to assist visitors to have the utmost relaxing experience, leaving the island free of tension and renewed with a fresh mind-set to tackle the rest of the year” says Shafa Shabeer, the Director of Marketing for Coco Collection.
A study found that the average Brit feels stressed three times a day, and a staggering 73 percent said that they felt they were juggling too many balls. Overall, more than half of those polled agrees that January is the most stressful time of the year. To ease their stress, most Brits (39 percent) opt to take a stroll while 29 percent try to soak up some sunshine. 16 percent of participants said the sound of waves breaking on a beach relaxes them, and 9 percent say you can’t beat a swim in the sea when feeling stressed.
“People have been under an increasing amount of stress over the years, from navigating through a pandemic to managing the current economic state. Relaxing is extremely important and we often underestimate how vital it is to ensure we lead healthy and fulfilled lives, which is why working on such a picturesque island like Coco Bodu Hithi is such a dream job for me. There is an array of health benefits to relaxation such as lowered blood pressure, improved digestion, reduced muscle tension and many more. With the huge variation in fresh produce coupled with the idyllic island sea and sand combination, Coco Bodu Hithi offers guests the perfect combination of sun sea and sand to help guests unwind.” says Dr. Tang.
In this position, Dr Tang will be aiding guests to fully unwind and de-stress through mindful activities such as guided barefoot walks, affirmations and intention setting, and positive psychology workshops.

Coco Collection runs two islands — Coco Bodu Hithi and Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu that make up the Coco Collection brand.
Luxurious and contemporary, with superb private pool villas and an idyllic overwater spa - Coco Bodu Hithi, the flagship property in Coco Collection’s portfolio, is a chic retreat where you reconnect with yourself, your loved ones and the wonder of the natural world. Translating island life into contemporary sophistication, the resort, which is accessible by a 40-minute speedboat ride from the main Velana International Airport, offers 100 villas that are surrounded by the calm view of the lagoon and the soothing sound of the waves. There are seven chic restaurants, two open air cocktail bars, extensive thatched overwater Coco Spa and a fitness center (with ocean views!). An uncrowded infinity swimming pool and a large selection of activities, including scuba diving and snorkeling in the lagoon. Despite all these facilities, guests - especially at night - tend to seek privacy in a private getaway, possibly with a bottle from Wine Loft.Read More

The resort very well takes care of its environment and creates guests all for a 5-star beach experience in tropical paradise. Dhuni Kolhu is ahead of other hotels in its category by quality, design and amenities. This is a top class, but a simple, laid-back package of key Maldives elements - diving, snorkeling, beach, island and accommodation. Half a mile from tip to tip, a private island of medium size is populated with 98 villas. Snorkeling and scuba diving is awesome amd the guests can freely walk between two restaurants, SPA and sports grounds, using shady paths entwining the lush jungle. The removal of the island takes 30 minutes by seaplane from Male airport. Snorkeling and scuba diving is awesome and the resort offers a number of fun tours, but there is no pool on the island.Read More
