Energy, water and waste reduction targets are benchmarked and monitored regularly to minimize environmental impacts. Energy saving technology is utilized at all three resorts. Solar panels have been installed on the roof tops of staff areas at each property as well as on floating platforms in the sea. All resorts use glass bottles for drinking water, and plastic straws are banned. Villas are constructed using sustainable wood and the hand-woven interior fabrics come from Sri Lanka. With unsual architecture the luxury boutique resort has 50 villas, 20 of which have a private pool. There's a good choice of dining options, the luxurious Vidhun Spa add to a pure Maldivian healing experience, and dive & water sports centre.
An environmental and socially sustainable culture has always been an integral part of the resort’s daily operations since the very beginning. Green Globe recently recertified the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, reinforcing their Gold status. While provide guests with a barefoot luxury holiday experience, resource management is a key consideration at Hadaha. Water, electricity and fuel usage is monitored daily. The resort continues to focus on sourcing products locally and to date, conducts business with up to 70% of sustainable food and beverage suppliers. Eco-wood made of long lasting compressed bamboo is also utilized for replacement decking at the property. In bathrooms, reusable ceramic bottle amenities feature in place of disposable mini plastic bottles. Since 2015, plastic straws have been replaced with paper ones. To protect and sustain the pristine waters and corals surrounding the island, motorized water sports are not permitted. Coral reef monitoring is conducted monthly to evaluate the reef’s condition and recovery.
